A large early 19th century portrait of Louis Joseph d'Humieres, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Avignon, France (1753 - 1834). Oil on canvas. French School. The work is housed in an Empire gilt frame moulded with swans, anthemia and cornucopias of fruit.
The portrait depicts a robed Archbishop Louis Joseph d'Humieres sat in a gilded chair, holding aloft a document detailing his name and accolades.
There is creasing to the edges of the work, seemingly from previous framing, and there are some small losses and marks in areas. Historic patch repairs evident verso.
A striking portrait that displays very well.
