A fine Regency period pier mirror, c.1820.
The mirror boasts a central panel with a garland bound with a central ribbon sitting below a lattice band set with floral rosettes. Both panel and band retain their original warm cream paint which contrasts with the soft gilded accents along the molding and carved details. Finely carved lion masks of unusual form to both the top and the bottom corners. The upper cornice is lined with rounded spheres. The original mirror plate has foxed beautifully, and is flanked by two fluted trefoil columns surmounted with splaying leaves.
