A silhouette of good proportions of two ladies, signed 'L. Frost', and dated '1837'.
The silhouette is finely done, depicting one lady reading whilst the other holds a pair of spectacles in front of a sewing basket and pair of scissors on the table. They are both wearing ornate bonnets and have dresses with full hooped skirts.
This silhouette is an exact copy of a silhouette portrait by William Wellings (1766-96) held at the V & A Museum (Accession Number: P.123-1922).
The work has a light age tone but otherwise remains in a very good condition indeed. The gloss black frame has a small nick to the bottom centre edge and some light scuffs etc in areas commensurate with age.
Overall a very attractive work.
