A delightful oil on canvas depicting a still life of purple flowers, lavender and a red butterfly. English School. The George Rowney & Co canvas stamp verso dates the work c.1880-1890s. Monogrammed with an interlocked 'VC' in red to the lower left.
The work is very well executed, with accomplished use of colour and light; the work appearing almost three-dimensional. The work is housed in a period gilt frame that has some small losses in areas (please see photographs) but generally displays well.
