A 19th century oil on canvas portrait of a young lady, c.1840. British School.
The sitter has a slight smile, an almost 'knowing' expression, staring straight out of the canvas. She is wearing a red fitted dress with curtains of a similar shade to the background. She is finely depicted with the eyes being of particular note.
There is craquelure throughout the work and overpainting evident to the upper left side of the painting (please see photographs).
An attractive decorative work.
